For more than ten years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has had a home at your Eugene Family YMCA. During that time we have served hundreds of youth and volunteers in creating healthy and nurturing mentoring relationships. During all this time, we have grown to serve ever more families and volunteers, with no charge for mentoring services. We have worked hard to raise funds for this program. The Y, through donations and sharing of staff resources, has kept this program alive and vital and able to make ends meet.

We all have been taking a look at what we spend and how to make the most difference with our dollars and our efforts. For years we have talked with leaders at Committed Partners for Youth about ways to collaborate and concentrate our efforts to reach even more youth with quality, dedicated mentors. We have now reached an agreement to merge the two programs to provide for sustainability and future growth. Starting with the new year, our new location will be at the present site of Committed Partners for Youth, 1840 Willamette Street, Eugene, OR 97401. Participants may contact Patti or Shawn at 344 0833. To strengthen this merger option, the Y will continue to provide some financial support for the new program and will provide the use of Y facilities for matches in the new combined program. We will be known as Committed Partners For Youth, a program of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County.

Thanks to the board, the administration, the staff, the members and all supporters of the Y programs for this wonderful time together. We expect a period of concentrated, creative activity as we bring two powerful programs together and we become one mighty provider of mentoring for the next generation. Give us some time to hook up all the components, then look for even better things from the new combined program. We will be thankful forever for our time at the Y.
