The most important measure of the YMCA is the impact it has on the lives of the people and communities it serves. By growing and changing to meet the current needs of our community, we have be able to ensure that everyone finds a place of welcome and belonging at the Eugene Family YMCA. We are an organization that builds strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Through our staff and the relationships we build, and our programs and the opportunities we provide the Ypositively impacts people of all ages, races, faiths and economic backgrounds.

Fun Facts...

Basketball (1891) was invented at the YMCA. So was volleyball (1890's) and racquetball (1950).

The YMCA housed the first "swimming bath" (1885). (Swimming pool)

The YMCA was the first to build an indoor, filtered pool (1910).

The term "body building" was coined by Robert Roberts, of the Boston YMCA (1881).

Certification and training in SCUBA Diving was pioneered by the YMCA (1959).

Father's Day started at the Spokane, WA YMCA (1911).
