Rain Plan Reminder,
Please call to confirm your court!

Cancellations may be necessary for court reservation on Thursday, May 13 and Saturday, May 15th if there is rain. We are the back up location for the High School district tournament that weekend. If there is rain on either of those two days, please call and check on court reservation or program cancellations.
The high schools will potentially be using the courts from 8:30am to 3:30ppm on both days.

We will try to have information on the answering machine by 7:30 on both mornings. However, we will know as soon as the school district tells us. There may be a ample warning or no warning: so, if it is raining or looks like it will, please call first.

Good luck in your tournament Eugene/Springfield teams!!!

Connie's Corner

The USTA season is well under way, and the YMCA has seven teams playing league tennis.
At this point, the YMCA teams’ records are the following:
3.0 Women/Ziros-Smith  2 wins, 5 losses; 3.5 Men/Sevart  2 losses, 3.5 Men/Forbes 1 win, 4 losses,
3.5 Women/Clark 4 wins, 1 loss; 3.5 Women/Fleming 1 win, 4 losses; 4.0 Men/Schaljo 7 losses; 4.5 Women/Walton 4 wins, 1 loss.
League Playoffs will be June 5-6 in Salem.  Hopefully, the YMCA will be well-represented.

Community Thank You Tennis Night

Friday, April 30th, was our first Community Thank You Tennis Night!

In an effort to build some community and let staff honor groups that are important to them, not to mention introduce new people to tennis; we had our first Community Thank You Tennis Night.

Ten staff members from Kalapuya High School brought their families for a free night of tennis fun. We hosted this staff team from 8-10pm on Friday, April 30th and they all had a great time and played some pretty good tennis.

Our hope is to offer one Community Thank You every other month. YMCA Tennis staff will be able to nominate groups they feel have given a lot to our community. This is our way to say thank you and have some fun.

Strong Kids Campaign
Helping us reach new heights!

It’s 4:07 in the afternoon. You don’t have to worry about where your child is. You know she was just given a healthy snack and is now practicing her soccer kicks with Y staff on the playground.

It’s Saturday afternoon and the rains have come again. You have a plan to take the whole family swimming at the YMCA—then check the wee ones into Play Care while Mom and Dad get to do a workout of their own. Or, maybe the parents just want to sit in the hot tub.

It’s not what you wanted to hear, but the doctor said the words “pre-diabetic” and “lifestyle change.” You can’t pick up a “lifestyle change” at the pharmacy, but you know where to turn. You make an appointment with a YMCA Wellness Coach and feel better already.

Your Y is here for you in so many ways. Will you please consider a contribution to the YMCA Scholarship Fund so that

  1. every family has access to health and well-being;
  2. every kid has access to positive role models and active recreation;
  3. together, we can keep our kids and families strong and healthy

Our goal is to raise $30,000 by the end of  May, helping us to ensure that no child will be turned away from YMCA programs. Please click here http://bit.ly/YMCADonation to make your contribution today. Or consider increasing your monthly membership fee bank draft to include a tax-deductible donation to your YMCA Scholarship Fund (just $5/ month can teach a child to swim!).  Contact Julie at julie@eugeneymca.org or call 541-686-9622f or details.

Thank you for building strong kids, strong families and a strong community.

See you on the courts!
