Youth Art Wall Collective with Esteban Camacho

This workshop is designed to train young artists to creat meaningful artwork for themselves and their community. Participants will experiment creating their art on a large scale as a means to gain personal confidence. They will also be learning conceptual and technical skills.

Through the workshop, students will have the opportunity to work closely with the artist, Esteban Camacho, who created the YMCA Aquatics Center Mural. They will gain insight into the process of developing public artwork - from research, sketching, composition, collaboration, and final execution.

This program emphasizes environmental and cultural stewardship as guiding themes. Students will explore how art can reflect community identity, local ecology, and shared values. Through discussion, design exercises, and hands-on creation, participants will learn how public art is a form of storytelling and civic responsibility.

Artists will have the opportunity to have their final work displayed for the community at the Eugene Family YMCA. Registration is required.
