Course Date: Friday, May 5 - Sunday, May 7
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, May 2
Who: Those 17 years and older who have a current lifeguard certification and have completed the Pre-Course Skill Evaluation
Cost: $275 for Members /$285 for Community Members
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course is to provide class participants with the skills necessary to teach the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Lifeguarding Instructor Certification valid for 2 years.
LGI Candidates also need to:
- Possess a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
- Complete online Pre-Coursework prior to March 30
- Successfully Complete Pre-Course Skill Evaluation

Lifeguard Certification Training

Who: Those 15 years and older
Cost: $150 for Members /$160 for Community Members
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants will also learn how to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification valid for 2 years.
All candidates must successfully complete the Pre-Course Swim Test in order to participate in the course:
- Swim 300 yards continuously with rhythmic breathing (Breast stroke and/or Crawl stroke)
- Swim 20 yards, dive 7-10ft deep, retrieve a 10-pound brick, swim back to the starting point and exit thepool
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs. (Hands must be under armpits.)
- Skill Evalution will occur on the 1st day of the course at 6pm
