Presented by HOOTS (Helping Out Our Teens in Schools)

This 2-hour training will cover different mental health terms, trends we are seeing in youth mental health, suicidality, and ways to reframe our understanding of how-to best support youth in crisis. This training will be interactive and encourage participants to work together on skill-sharing and skill-building. Our hope is that folks will come prepared to engage with an open mind in order to achieve the desired learning outcome of all being more equipped to best support youth.

HOOTS has been serving youth across Lane County since 2016 offering free and confidential mental health care for high school students providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, basic first aid, and community referrals to hundreds of students each year. HOOTS clinicians work in teams of two comprised of a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) and a medic (EMT). The HOOTS team supports youth process their big feelings & little feelings every day and is excited to share what they know with parents so more folks can be part of supporting young people!
